(Слово majority употребляется как в единственном, так и во множественном числе. Если оно употреблено самостоятельно, то оно в единственном числе, если за ним следует существительное во множественном числе, то оно означает множество. Оно употребляется только с исчисляемыми существительными, например: a majority of people [но не a majority of the work]; в сочетании с of обычно согласуется с глаголом во множественном числе.)
